Chalet Belle Cour
This beautiful contemporary chalet is set in the charming village of Manigod, and has stunning views over the Aravis mountains. The accommodation is set over three floors, with plenty of room for 10 guests (9 adults).
The owners have worked with a local architect to build the property, and the result is a stunning home with all the facilities guests will need for a great mountain holiday.
The village of Manigod is just a short drive from the ski station of La Croix Fry, which offers great choice for skiers of all levels, but is particularly popular with families. In the summer, it's a very attractive area for walkers and mountain bikers. The bus stops just 50m from the door, so you don't need to worry about getting the car out. The chalet has also been awarded the "Label Vélo", providing cyclists with all the necessary comforts.
The village itself has a popular bakery where you can pick up your fresh bread and pastries in the morning, and a restaurant which also offers takeaway food. Other restaurants can be found within a short drive of the village, and at the Croix Fry ski station.
About the property
Chalet Belle Cour can accommodate up to 10 guests in four bedrooms, with three bathrooms.
As you enter on the ground floor, there's a lobby with WC and wash basin, as well as hanging space for coats. There's a double bedroom with en suite shower room and access to the terrace, with great views of Etale, Sulens and Tournette.
The open plan living area overlooks the valley, and there's access to a balcony, which runs across the front of the chalet. There's also a dining table on the shaded terrace off the kitchen area, where you can enjoy a fine meal or just your morning coffee.
Cosy sofas and benches are arranged around a woodburning stove, which can be turned to face the dining area when you all sit down to eat together. The stylish kitchen comes with a big range oven, so there's plenty of room to cook for a crowd.
There are two more double bedrooms on the first floor, which share a bathroom. There's also a large family room which has a double bed and a set of sturdy bespoke bunk beds - this room has an en suite shower room.
A long gallery landing on the first floor overlooks the dining area and is set up as a work space, should you need to check in. There's also access to the second balcony from here, so it's easy to take a break!
The property also has a garage and a ski store with racks and boot warmers and, on the lower ground floor, a useful laundry room.
About the area
Chalet Belle Cour is just 10 minutes from the Croix Fry ski station (altitude 1500m), where you can park free, although if you'd rather leave the car behind, the ski bus stops 800m from the chalet. There are plenty of gentle nursery slopes here, where beginners can build confidence, while experienced skiers have access to more than 200km of pistes and 95 lifts in the La Clusaz/Le Grand Bornand area.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails on the nearby Beauregard plateau, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with an ice skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
In the summer, you’ll find no shortage of things to do when you stay at Chalet Belle Cour. There are plenty of walks, from mountain hikes to gentle plateau paths, and you can take the ski lift to the top of the mountains and come back down at your own pace. The bus stops just 50m from the chalet.
Both road cyclists and mountain bikers will find plenty to explore in and around the Manigod valley. The Col de la Croix Fry is one of the most spectacular mountain passes in the Alps, and a regular part of the Tour de France. The challenging climbs are rewarded by breathtaking views. There are lots of routes for mountain bikers too - check out the Andran, Orsiere and Sulens areas as well as the Beauregard plateau. A guide to all of the routes is available from the tourist office.
There are tree-top adventure parks for all the family at Thônes and Le Grand Bornand, and a beautiful lakeside golf course at Annecy.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Round off the perfect day with a barbecue and drink on the terrace at Chalet Belle Cour

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Belle Cour is a newly-built four-bedroom, three-bathroom chalet for 10 guests - one of the bedrooms is a family room with a double bed and a set of bunks. Sitting below the road in the beautiful Manigod village, it has wonderful views of the valley.
We love the stunning revolving fireplace in the living area - turn it towards the dining table when you're eating, and then back towards the living area for a cosy evening together. Having terraces on three sides of the chalet mean you can follow the sun, but there's also a great sheltered terrace, so that you can enjoy the great outdoors whatever the weather.
The outdoor dining table has been perfectly place so that you can enjoy the stunning views while you eat.
There is plenty of hanging space in the bedrooms, as well as storage in the bed bases and the bedside tables. The two en suite bathrooms are very well appointed, but our favourite is the family bathroom, which has a freestanding bath big enough for two!
The bakery in the village is a great place to pick up your morning bread, but for a bigger shop, it's just a quick drive into Thônes, which has a good selection of shops and supermarkets as well as a weekly market.
In the summer, there are wonderful walks from the door in this beautifully tranquil area, and it's a great base for exploring the lake at Annecy as well as the mountains.
The owners of Chalet Belle Cour have tried to think of everything you need for a great mountain holiday, but they've still got plenty of ideas - watch this space for new facilities coming soon!

From the owner
Tonie
To our family the magic of the mountains has embraced us warmly ever since we first came to Manigod valley. We do hope you will experience similar magical moments staying in our family mountain home! Our family history travels through various countries and continents but we found ourselves always returning to the mountains, for its specific atmosphere, its amazing views and authentic people.
From the very first moment we visited Manigod, we instantly fell in love with the village, the valley, its hidden treasures of unspoiled nature and its warm hospitality, last but not least the soothing sound of the cow bells from spring till autumn. We were very fortunate to have met this elderly lady, who grew up in Manigod village and happened to still own a piece of land of their family property.
As we never planned to ever buy land to build on, we suddenly found ourselves designing and developing a wooden chalet of our own! We are grateful to be the lucky ones to live here now and to share it with you. Locally we met a fine architect and construction company of wooden chalets, that understood the local, protected design of building in this area, to respect and maintain its uniqueness.
We followed the amazing building process of our own chalet step by step and were impressed by their full dedication, joy and craftsmanship to realize our dream: Chalet Belle Cour. As with all the kind people that we have met until today, we were very lucky to meet our reliable manager and dedicated housekeeper, who are taking care of our guests as well as our home.
If there would be anything you may need, please do let us know, through contacting them.
On behalf of our seven children and three grandchildren we wish you will enjoy your stay at Belle Cour and hope you will feel as welcome here as we do! Enjoying your stay here, respecting the premises as a duly responsible person, Belle Cour will be your home for now!
Very best,
Tonie & Marieke
